Featured Project: Revitalization of Semi Conductor Fabrication

As the world begins the acceleration of its commitment to cleaner energy and fuel alternatives so does the need to expand the production of microelectronic and semiconductor production to support these new alternatives. The United States, as a premier world leader promoting these alternatives, has realized its need to become more self-sufficient and is ramping up its commitment to the expansion of its domestic manufacturing. Numerous existing manufacturing facilities across the USA are quickly being redesigned, revitalized and reworked to address the most urgent of these needs while massive new facilities are being planned for construction in the immediate future.
As a specialized designer and fabricator of ultrapure water systems in the mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States Filter & Water Technologies is proud to be part of this revitalization of USA manufacturing. Featured in this “Project Highlight” is a complete ultrapure Electronic Grade Water System designed for the manufacturing and processing of semiconductor wafers.
The production of semiconductor wafers requires huge amounts of high purity water. As wafers are sliced, cleaned and polished large volumes of rinse water are required. Conservation of water is of growing concern and reuse of a portion of the water, where possible, is being employed in the overall design and fabrication of such systems. The system featured here includes a water reclamation system which collects, reprocesses and reuses the vast majority of the water necessary for this process. There is also a combination Reverse Osmosis / Deionized Water System (RODI) which provides ultrapure water for once through final rinsing of the wafers and make-up water to the recirculated reclamation system.
Filter & Water Technologies is currently involved in a number of such projects with a multitude of companies specializing in the United States’ commitment to the world’s pursuance of cleaner energy and fuel technologies. Featured in this publication is an initial look at what will be a complete high purity Electronic Grade Water System for the manufacturing of semiconductor wafers. As the United States begins its commitment to the expansion of domestic manufacturing numerous upgrades of production facilities have been planned for the near future. Filter & Water Technologies is proud to be part of this revitalization of USA manufacturing and is thrilled to be part of the expansion of the existing facility featured in this case study.
The production of semiconductor wafers requires huge amounts of high purity water. Consideration for water conservation played a large part in the overall design of this water system. As a result, there is a central Reverse Osmosis / Deionized Water System (RODI) which provides ultrapure water for rinsing of the wafers and make-up water to a recirculated system. The recirculated system is actually a reclamation system that will collect, reprocess and reuse the vast majority of the water necessary for the process.
Please stand by for future updates on the fabrication progress of this system and others. If you have any questions and/or wish to explore options such as presented in this case study please do not hesitate to contact us at sales@filterandwater.com
